To check .NET Framework version 4 or above installed in Windows, Microsoft suggests to check the Release Dword value for subkey in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftNET Framework SetupNDPv4Full, it should show 393295.

Find .NET Framework version installed in Windows 10
For other Windows versions, registry shows .NET build number as 393297. We haven’t found that in build 10240 and Windows 8 also. Update: For Windows 10 November update systems, you’ll notice value of the Release DWORd as 394254 (check the below screenshot), you’ll have .NET framework version 4.6.1 installed.
Update 1: For Windows 10 v1607 (anniversary Update), you’ll notice value of Release Dword for .NET Framework 4.6.2 as 394802, for other Windows versions it will be shown as 394806.
Update 2: .NET Framework 4.7 is part of Windows 10 Creators Update. And the corresponding value of release Dword for .NET 4.7 is 460798.
UPDATE 3 October 18, 2017: .NET Framework 4.7.1 is included in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and the corresponding release Dword value for .NET 4.7.1 is 461308.
